2 killed in Jhenaidah ‘gunfight’

Jhenaidah: Two people were killed in a reported gunfight with police in the Bhutiargati area of Jhenaidah in the early hours of Tuesday.
Identities of the deceased could not be confirmed yet.
The Jhenaidah additional superintendent of police (ASP) Mohammad Azbahar Ali Sheikh said police also recovered five bombs, two shutter guns, two bullets, and a motorcycle from the spot.
The ASP said a gang of around eight miscreants riding three motorcycles crossed the Bypass road avoiding the patrolling police members who signalled them to stop near Al-Hera crossing at about 4:00am.
However, two of the motorcycle riders fell down from the bike while overpassing a speed breaker and they hurled bomb to police as they tried to flee from the spot. Police also fired them back, which left two of miscreants injured, said Azbahar Ali Sheikh.
The police official said the other miscreants managed to run away. The injured were taken to hospital where doctors declared them dead.
