Sylhet: A man was arrested allegedly for killing his two sons from Chintamoni village in Osmaninagar upazila of Sylhet on Wednesday morning.

The arrestee is Satir Ali, in his thirties, a resident of the village.

Superintendent of Sylhet police Moniruzzaman said Satir Ali along with his two sons—Masum, 11, a Class III student, and Rujel, 7—went out of their house to catch fish on Monday afternoon but did not return home that night.

After a hectic search, Satir’s wife Nurbi Begum along with local people found the bodies of the two siblings at Chintamoni haor (waterbody) in the evening and called police.

Police went to the spot and recovered the bodies while Satir went into hiding.

Later, local people caught Satir from the house of Montaj Ullah at Chintamoni village at about 6:00am on Wednesday and handed him over to police.

Satir Ali confessed to police that he strangled his two sons to death, the SP added.
