Sramik Dal leader killed in Jessore firing
Jessore: A Sramik Dal leader was died undergoing treatment, after injured in a reported firing with rival group at Manirampur in Jessore, in the early hours of Wednesday.
The deceased is Anisur Rahman, in his thirties, a resident of Shyamkur union of the upazila.
The BNP Central Committee’s Khulna divisional Organising Secretary Anindya Islam Amit said Anisur Rahman was the president of Shyamkur union’s ward 5 Sramik Dal.
The Manirampur police Officer-in-charge (OC) Biplob Kumar Nath said groups of Anisur and his rival group Mahfuz involved in a gunfight on Tuesday night over establishing supremacy in the area. Later, a team of police went to the spot and found Anisur in a critical condition. The law-enforcers took Anisur to Jessore General Hospital, where he died at about 2:00am.
The OC said police also recovered a pipegun, and two bullets from the spot. He said Anisur was wanted in 12 cases including murder cases filed over the killing of Krishak League leader Shafi Kamal, and Juba League activist Shahin.
Anisur’s brother, Azizur Rahman said Anisul was a cement trader of Monirampur Market. However, police held Anisur in the early hours of 30 October.
He said, being informed about his brother’s death he went to Jessore Medical College Hospital to identify the body.
