4 ‘Neo-JMB men’ held at Bagerhat
Bagerhat: Police claimed to have detained four suspected member of Neo-Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) in the Doratana Bridge area of Sadar upazila in Bagerhat early on Thursday.
The detainees are Maksudur Rahman alias Tota Mia, in his twenties, a resident of Goarekanda area of Satkhira, Morshed Alam, around 20 years, a resident of Kashipur area of Kadamtala, Saiful Islam, a resident Itaigacha area, and Jahirul Islam, believed to be 22, a resident of Nazirpir in Pirojpur.
However, police filed four cases against them.
Police said being tipped off that a team of around eight unidentified people - suspected as members of Neo-JMB - gathered in the Doratana area, police conducted a drive there in the early hours of Thursday. The suspected members of Neo-JMB hurled bomb over police and police also fired them back. Later, the law enforcers detained four of the Neo-JMB members and seized firearms, bombs, and bomb-making materials from them.
The Bagerhat Superintendent of police Pankaj Chandra Roy said a team of Detective Branch (DB), led by additional superintendent of police Gautam Biswas, and a team of Bagerhat Model police conducted a drive in the area and arrested four of the suspected members of Neo-JMB.
