Update: 03 November, 2016, 22:11

Dhaka: The depression over the southeast bay moved northwestward over the west-central bay and adjoining area.

It was centring at 3:00pm on Thursday about 1130 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1070 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1055 kms southwest of Mongla port and 1035 kms southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to intensify further and move in a northwesterly direction, said a Met office special bulletin

Under its influence, deep convection is taking place over the north bay. Squally weather may affect the maritime ports and coastal areas of Bangladesh.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls. Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to lower distant cautionary signal No 1 and instead hoist local cautionary signal No 3.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the north bay have been advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution till further notice. They have also been advised not to venture into the deep sea.
