Dhaka: Embattled Fisheries and Livestock Minister Muhammed Sayedul Hoque will brief the media at his constituency in Brahmabaria over the recent situation in Nasirnagar upazila on Sunday.

The press briefing will be held at Nasirnagar Dak-Bungalow at 1:00pm, said a PID handout on Saturday evening, reports UNB.

The minister is going to brief the media after Hindu community members came under repeated attacks in Nasirnagar over the last few days since 30 October.

Sayedul‘s role came into question as he allegedly made derogatory remarks about the minority people following the attacks. Many are now demanding his resignation.

On 30 October, an unruly mob equipped with sharp weapons went berserk and demolished a number of Hindu temples and nearly 100 houses in the upazila following a rumour of a Facebook post demeaning the holy Kaaba.

In a fresh attack on Friday, miscreants also set fire to at least six houses of Hindus in the upazila amid alertness of law enforcement agencies and local administration.
