Jatiya Party falling apart: GM Quader
Dhaka: The result of city corporation election in three cities showed that Jatiya Party (Japa) faced a huge collapse in politics said the party’s senior presidium member GM Quader.
He said, controlled political activities of the party these days and its imprecise role in any issue are the reasons behind the failure of Japa.
The Japa-backed mayoral candidates lost deposits in three cities. Dhaka North city corporation Japa mayoral candidate bagged 2,950 votes, Dhaka South candidate got 4, 519 votes, and Chittagong mayoral candidate got 6,131 votes. Most of the councillors’ contestants also faced defeat.
‘I don’t think the party is practicing healthy politics. The party is, for whatever reason, running through controlled political activities,’ said GM Quader.
However, the role of Jatiya Party in the politics is not clear.
The presidium member of the main opposition party added, ‘Japa don’t have their own political view. The existence of a political party depends in its exclusive policy which will draw people’s attention towards them. Few persons have created the problem. Their activities hampered the flow of the party.’
