7 cops, 4 people injured in clash over harvesting sugarcane in Gaibandha

Gaibandha: Seven policemen and four indigenous people were reportedly injured in a clash over cropping sugarcane from a field at Baghda Farm in Gobindaganj upazila in Gaibandha on Sunday morning.
The injured indigenous men were identified as Brigen Tudu, Charan Soren, Bimal Kisku and Shamol Hemoyan.
The Gobindaganj Police Officer-in-charge Subrata Saha said the authorities of Rangpur Sugar Mill along with the workers went to the sugarcane field in the morning to harvest the crop.
When the workers started the cropping, the people of the indigenous community tried to resist them, triggering the clash.
On information, police rushed to the spot and brought the situation under control.
Four indigenous people and seven police personnel reportedly sustained injuries.
