Rezaus Sadique, inspector of Detective Branch of Police and also investigation officer of the case, submitted a charge-sheet before the Metropolitan Magistrate Court on Sunday, six months after the killing, said Iftekhar Alam, senior assistant commissioner and spokesperson of Rajshahi Metropolitan Police.

The court fixed November 8 to decide whether it will accept the charge-sheet.

The accused are Khairul Alam Badal, Osman, Nazrul Islam, Shariful Islam, Ripon, Abdus Sattar, Rahmatullah and Maskawat. Of them, Badal, Nazrul and Osman were killed in gunfights with police in different times and Shariful has been on the run.

Prof Rezaul Karim, 58, of the RU English Department, was hacked to death by miscreants in the city’s Shalbagan area on April 23 last.
