Ansar man killed in knife attack at Dhaka airport
Dhaka: An Ansar member was killed and several people, including members of Airport Armed Police (AAP) and Ansar, were injured as a cleaner of a private firm stabbed them at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Sunday evening, reports UNB.
Sub-inspector Alamgir Hossain of Airport Police Station identified the deceased as Shohagh Ali, 30, an Ansar member who was on duty at the airport.
Alamgir said three Ansar members were also admitted to Kurmitola General Hospital with stab injuries.
Contacted, AAP commanding officer Rashedul Islam Khan confirmed the incident, saying four of their members were also injured in the attack.
He said the AAP members detained the attacker with multiple wounds.
According to the intelligence sources, a young cleaner of AK Trader stabbed an Ansar member at Gate No-3 of the departure lounge at about 6:30pm, as he was prevented from entering the airport carrying a knife.
As fellow Ansar members rushed in, the attacker also stabbed two other Ansar members, including a female one.
When the AAP members chased the attacker known as Shihab, he stabbed several of them. At one stage, the attacker was caught near Row No-6 inside the departure lounge.
The injured cleaner along with three other injured were rushed to Kurmitola General Hospital where Shohagh succumbed to his injuries, said SI Alamgir.
