PM congratulates Trump for his victory
Dhaka: Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday congratulated Donald Trump for his victory in US presidential elections, hoping that the bilateral relations between two countries would be further strengthened.
The prime minister in a letter to the present-elect of the United States of America said, ‘I convey our congratulations to you on your election as the 45th President of the United States of America. Your victory in the U.S. Presidential Election is certainly a testimony to your extraordinary leadership quality to serving the American people and also the global humanity.’
Hopeful for further bilateral relations Sheikh Hasina said, ‘I am confident that under your leadership, the existing bilateral relations between our two friendly nations would be further strengthened. I look forward to working closely with you for advancing our bilateral and multilateral interests and contributing to create a safe and secured world, where our coming generations could live and continue to prosper peacefully.’
Sheikh Hasina also invited Donald Trump to visit Bangladesh. The letter reads, ‘I cordially invite you and Mrs. Melania Trump to visit Bangladesh at a mutually convenient time and see for yourself the phenomenal development that took place in Bangladesh in the recent years.’
She added, ‘I wish you and your family good health, long life and happiness, and the warm friendly people of the United States continued peace, progress and prosperity.’
The letter ends with the prime minister’s warm wishes for Donal Trump, which says, ‘ Please accept, Excellency, the assurance of my highest consideration.’
Republican Donald Trump has won the US presidency with at least 290 electoral votes, securing more than the 270 he needed.
His Democratic rival Hillary Clinton had 218 electoral votes, a crushing defeat for the former secretary of state.
