2 electrocuted as ‘rivals set trap’ in Gaibandha
Gaibandha: Two people including a woman were killed after being electrocuted by live electric wire allegedly laid down by rivals in a disputed paddy field at Jinia village of Sundarganj upazila on Saturday morning, reports UNB.
The deceased are Taslim Uddin, 72, and Marjina Begum, 27, both resident of the village.
Atiar Rahman, officer-in-charge of Sundarganj Police Station, said Taslim had a long standing dispute with one Hazrat Ali of the village over a piece of land at the village.
On information that Taslim would go to the field to crop the paddy, Hazrat laid live electric wire at the field on Friday night.
When Taslim along with his supporters went to the field on Saturday morning, ten people including Taslim and Marjina came in contact with the charged wire, leaving the duo dead on the spot.
The injured were taken to Sundarganj Upazila Health Complex.
On information, police recovered the bodies from the spot.
Police also arrested eight people including Hazrat from the village in this connection.
