Bagerhat: A seminary student was hacked to death by a group of miscreants over previous enmity at Chalitabunia village in Morelganj upazila in Bagerhat on Saturday night.

The deceased is Al-Amin Sheikh, in his eighteens, a resident of Chalitabunia village. He was a student of Olamaganj NU Aleem Madrasa.

The Morelganj Police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Rashedul Alam said Al-Amin was going to his madrasa from his residence in the night.

A group of miscreants waylaid Al-Amin and hacked him indiscriminately in the village at about 9:00pm, leaving him severely injured.

Later, he was taken to Morelganj Upazila Health Complex where he died.

Quoting Al-Amin’s family, the OC said the family had been at loggerheads with their neighbour Abul Quazi.

Police arrested Abul Quazi’s wife Kohinur Begum, and daughter Poli Akter in connection with the incident on Sunday morning.
