4 held over snatching TK 70lakh in Sylhet

Sylhet: Police arrested four people along with TK 70lakh, which was snatched from two officials of a private organisation, from Baluchar area of Sylhet on Sunday night.

Jedan Al Musa, additional deputy commissioner (Sadar South) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), said a gang of muggers riding four motorcycles and an auto-rickshaw obstructed two account officers of Uniliver Bangladesh Limited’s of Ambarkhan Borobazar depot while they were going to a bank on a private car in Zindabazar area at noon.

Keeping the duo hostage at gunpoint, the muggers snatched away TK 70,70,000 from them and vandalised the car.

Later a joint team of Kotwali Police Station, Shah Poran Police Station and the Detective Branch (DB) conducted a drive in different areas of city and recovered the money from a house of Al-Islah residential area in Baluchar area at about 8:00pm.

The law enforcers also seized two auto-rickshaws from the house.

Police also arrested four people including two auto-rickshaw drivers, the owner and the caretaker of the house.
