Bounty for info leading to Nasirnagar arsonists’ arrest

Brahmanbaria: The district police on Monday announced a bounty of Tk 1 lakh for information leading to the arrest of those torched the houses of Hindu community members in Nasirnagar upazila on October 30.

Police super Mizanur Rahman announced the bounty while talking to reporters at his office in the afternoon, Reports UNB.

Abu Zafar, officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar Police Station, said the local police announced the bounty so that those involved in the attacks on the houses of Hindus could be arrested soon.

He also said the identities of the information providers will be kept secret.

People have been asked to provide information about the arsonists over the following mobile numbers -- 01713373724, 01713373725, 01713373727 and 01713373733.

On October 30, an unruly mob equipped with sharp weapons went berserk and demolished a number of temples and nearly 100 houses of Hindus in Nasirnagar upazila following a rumour of a Facebook post demeaning the holy Kaaba.

A total of 78 people have so far been arrested in connection with the attacks on the establishments of the Hindu community.
