Jaipurhat: The wife of Akkelpur upazila health and family planning officer Radheshyam Agarwala was found hanged at the upazila headquarters on Tuesday.

Hospital and family sources said Popy Rani, 34, killed herself by hanging with the corridor grille at their health complex residential quarters at noon.

Radheshyam’s daughter informed him over mobile phone at about 12:00 noon that her mother Rani committed suicide.

The reason behind the suicide could not be known yet.

An unnatural death case was filed with Akkelpur Police Station in this connection.

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Golam M Shahnewaz and Jaipurhat additional police super Ashoke Kumar Paul visited the spot.
