Man killed in Jessore ‘firing’

Jessore: Police recovered body of a man in the Kholadanga area of Jessore city in the early hours of Friday. The deceased is Hafizur Rahman Mora, in his thirties, a resident of Shashthitalapara of the city, claimed police.

Police said Hafizur Rahman was a top listed criminal of the area. He was wanted in several cases including murder, arms, drugs, and explosive.

The Jessore Kotwali Police Officer-in-charge Mohammad Ilias Hossain said a team of police went to Kholadanga area of Jessore city after being tipped of that firing was taking place at the area on Thursday midnight.

Police found bullet-hit body of a man on the spot and took him to Jessore General Hospital. Later, police identified the man as Hafizur Rahman.

The OC said a foreign pistol, a magazine, two bullets, and two shells of bullets were also recovered from the spot.

The Jessore General Hospital Emergency Unit physician Yusuf Ali said police brought a bullet-hit man to the hospital at about 2:00am on Friday. He has bullet injuries on his head. However, the physician claimed the man died before he was brought to the hospital.
