Driver’s assistant killed in arson attack on truck
Rajshahi: A petrol bomb attack on a truck killed driver’s assistant and injured the driver at Puthia in Rajshahi on Thursday night.
The deceased, Pintu, reportedly in his late twenties, was in flames right after the attack.
Later he jumped off the truck onto the street, but was burned to death on the spot being unable to put out the blaze.
Pintu was the son of Ahmed Hossain of Charghat’s Tangon.
Witnesses said miscreants hurled a petrol bomb at the Dhaka-bound goods-laden truck from Rajshahi at Belpukur at about 8:45pm.
Puthia police officer-in-charge (Investigation) Hafizur Rahman confirmed the incident, saying the blockaders hurled the petrol bomb at the truck over a bridge.
Truck driver Mithun, 45, of the same area also received injuries in the incident.
The injured was taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
