Khulna: A two-and-a-half-year-old girl has been violated allegedly by a college student at Municipal Tank Road in Sadar upazila.

Police arrested the alleged rapist, Imran Hossain, 19, a Class-XI student of Govt Sundarbans Model College from his house on Friday morning.

Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Shafiqul Islam said Imran took the girl to his house at about 11:00am on Wednesday after her mother, Peyara Begum, went to a local Brac office keeping her to her (girl’s) grandmother.

Imran fed the girl sedatives and raped her.

Victim’s mother filed a case against Imran with the police station on the day.

Sub-inspector of Sadar Police Station Milon Kumar, also investigation officer of the case, produced Imran before the court of Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sumi Ahmed on Friday seeking five days to interrogate him.

The court, however, fixed Sunday for hearing the petition.
