Shamsher, Gaweshwar secures bail
Bangladesh Nationalist Party vice-chairman Shamsher Mobin Chowdhury and standing committee member Gaweshwar Chandra Roy have secured bail in separate cases.
A high court bench comprising judges Rezaul Haque and Khasruzzaman on Wednesday ordered the bail of the two leaders.
The bench gave Shamsher Mobin interim bail in two cases related to attack on police and issued a rule on the authorities concerned over why Mobin should not get permanent bail.
Shamser Mobin’s lawyer Masud Rana confirmed that he had no more obstacles to come out of custody.
Gaweshwar Chandra Roy granted bail in a violence case, but still has to stay in custody over two cases.
Lawyers Nitai Roy Chowdhury and Debashish Roy stood on behalf of Gaweshwar Chandra, while deputy attorney general Fazlur Rahman Khan appeared on behalf of the state.
