BJP ready to stay beside Hasina govt
Dhaka: The Indian BJP government is ready to stay beside Sheikh Hasina’s government in the current political crisis following unprecedented political instability and violence that Bangladesh witnessed since early January, reports BBC Bangla quoting BJP leaders.
“There’s no possibility to stay away from a tested friend like Sheikh Hasina,” the report said quoting front-ranking BJP leaders.
However, they said they also have contact with BNP which is nothing other than political relations, it said.
India had supported the January-5 ‘controversial’ elections through which Awami League assumed power.
Though there is a change in Indian government, there is indication that BJP leadership is fully keeping trust on Sheikh Hasina government.
Paschimbanga acting BJP leader Siddharth Nath Singh who is in touch with Bangladesh politics has admitted it.
“Though India’s relation is with Bangladesh, it’s a factor that who is in power. In that perspective, Sheikh Hasina government has showed generosity towards India’s interest and concerns,” Singh was quoted as saying.
On the basis on intelligence report, Indian current leadership thinks there is no chance for a declaration of state emergency in Bangladesh.
