Narayanganj: The ruling Awami League blessed mayor candidate Selina Hayat Ivy on Thursday said there is no need for army deployment in the December 22 elections of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC). 

Ivy came up with the remark while talking to journalists after submitting her nomination paper to the returning officer of the Election Commission in Narayanganj. 

Bangladesh Nationalist Party's mayor candidate Shakhawat Hossain also submitted his nomination paper to the returning officer in the afternoon.

Thursday was the deadline for submission of nomination papers, which will be scrutinised on November 26 and 27. The last date for withdrawal of nomination is December 4.
