Expatriate kidnapped from Gazipur rescued in Jhenidah

Jhenidah: A Kuwaiti expatriate, who had been kidnapped from Gazipur on Wednesday, was rescued at Maheshpur, Jhenidah on Friday.
The victim was Saidul Islam, son of Sattar Bepari of Damdama village in Sreepur, Gazipur.
Arifur Rahman, sub-inspector of Sreepur Model Police Station, Gazipur, said Saidul had gone out of home on Wednesday night after receiving a phone call and remained missing since then.
Later some unidentified men made a phone call to Saidul’s father and demanded Tk 6 lakh as ransom for his release.
Sattar Bepari, father of Saidul, filed a case with Sreepur Police Station on 7 May.
After tracking the mobile phone of the kidnappers, a team of Sreepur police with the help of Maheshpur thana police conducted a raid on Maheshpur uapzila parishad auditorium and rescued Saidul at about 7:00pm.
Police also rescued two other kidnap victims-Tushar Ahmed, 27, and Liton Mia, 28-- hailing from Keraniganj, from the spot.
Saidul Islam Shahin, officer-in-charge of Maheshpur Police Station, said police could not arrest the kidnappers.
The kidnapped Saidul and Liton returned home from Kuwait 7/8 months back, said police.
