Khagrachhari: The day-long hartal in Manikchhari upazila, enforced by Parbatya Bangali Student Council, protesting an alleged rape incident, is underway peacefully.

No vehicle was seen plying the roads while no long-route bus left the upazila.

The leaders and activist of the council also took part in picketing in different parts of the upazila.

Additional police forces have been deployed to avoid any untoward situation.

Earlier on 17 November, a gang of masked miscreants picked up a woman from Kumari Para village and violated her.

Later, a case was filed against around 8 unnamed people with Manikchhari Police.
