2 JMB men get 20yrs in prison in C’nawabganj
Chapainawabganj: A court on Wednesday sentenced two members of banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to 20 years’ imprisonment each in separate cases filed under the Arms Act.
The convicts are Momin, son of Toiyab Ali of Kalaidiar village in Gomastapur upazila, and Ramjan Ali, son of Tofazzal Haque of Ghuntola village in Bholahat upazila of the district. Ramjan was tried in absentia.
According to the prosecution, a team of police from Shibganj Police
Station arrested Momin along with five bullets, firearm-making elements and some jihadi books from Kharagpur area of Shibganj upazila on June 17, 2009.
Later, sub-inspector of the police station Aminul Islam filed a case against Momin.
Law enforcers arrested Ramjan along with one shooter gun and three bullets from Kharagpur-Ghuntola area of Bholahat upazila on the same day.
Sub-inspector of Bholahat Police Station Mizanur Rahman filed a case against Ramjan in this regard.
After examining the records and witnesses, Additional District and Session’s judge of the Special Tribunal-2 M Ziaur Rahman handed down the verdict.
