Deep depression weakens

Dhaka: The deep depression over southwest bay and adjoining area moved west-northwestwards further and weakened into a depression over the same area.
It was centring at 6:00am on Friday about 1805 kms southwest of Chittagong port, 1765 kms southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 1660 kms southwest of Mongla port and 1675 kms southwest of Payra port.
It is likely to be weaken further and move in a west-northwesterly direction, said a Met office special bulletin.
Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the deep depression is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.
Sea will remain very rough near the depression centre.
The maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra have been advised to keep hoisted distant cautionary signal number 1.
All fishing boats and trawlers over the north bay and deep sea have been advised not to venture into the deep sea and proceed with caution until further notice.
