Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) senior leader Gayeshwar Chandra Roy on Saturday urged their party leaders and activists to work together in Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) election as the ‘sheaf of paddy’ has “cent percent possibility” to win the polls.

“The people of Narayanganj want to vote for BNP. Don’t neglect the voters by indulging in internal conflicts. Keep trust in voters, respect them and visit their houses to seek votes. We’ve more than 100 percent possibility to win the election,” he said.

Exchanging views with the leaders and activists of Narayanganj, the BNP leader further said, “No one can defeat us, if we can work together forgetting the conflict and misunderstanding among us.”

Arranged by the coordination committee formed by BNP to carry out electioneering in favour of its NCC polls mayoral candidate Shakhawat Hossain Khan, the programme was held at Bhasani auditorium.

On Tuesday, BNP declared its six-member coordination committee, headed by Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, for Narayanganj City Corporation polls slated for December 22.

Gayeshwar, also a BNP standing committee member, said BNP leaders and activists in Narayanganj will have to take the NCC polls as a challenge. “We’ll be able to succeed if we get united... this election is also an acid test for every leaders and activists.”

He called upon BNP leaders and activists of its Narayanganj unit to take preparation to guard every polling station so that no one can snatch polls results.

The BNP leader, however, said if the government stanches the NCC election results, it will be treated like January-5 election.
