Sunamganj: A Bangladeshi man was beaten to death by mob in India’s Borochhora area near Tahirpur border at Sunamganj in Bangladeshi on Monday morning.

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials quoting India’s Border Security Force (BSF) said local people detained the young man while he was stealing fuel from a coal-laden truck parked in Borochhora area and beaten him to dead.

Later, the Borochhara police recovered the body from the spot.

The deceased is Bashir Ahmed, in his thirties, a resident of the village of Sripur under Kolagaon union at Tahirpur upazila, said BGB.

BGB members said Bashir Ahmed intruded India through Borochhora point.

However, BGB officials sat for a flag meeting with BSF personnel at the India-Bangladesh border to bring back the body home.

BGB 28 Riffles Battalion Deputy Commanding Officer Major Mahbubul Alam said the process of bringing the body back to Bangladesh has already started.
