Naogaon: Miscreants hacked a local level Awami League leader to death at Patnitala upazila in Naogaon in the early hours of Tuesday.

Deceased Shafiqul Islam, in his forties, was joint secretary of Patnitala union Awami League, also a resident of Katabari village of the upazila.

The Patnitala police said Shafiqul Islam left his home with a motorbike on Monday night after receiving a phone call. Local people discovered the body of Shafiqul Islam and his motorbike at the upazila and called police at about 5:00am on Tuesday.

Police said the body has several injury marks of sharp weapons in its face and other parts.
