2 to die for double murder
Faridpur: A Faridpur tribunal on Tuesday sentenced two people to death and another one to life term imprisonment for killing couple in 2013.
The condemned convicts are Nazrul Islam and Sujon Bepari of Char Tepakhola Munshidangi village on the outskirts of Faridpur district town.
The lifer is Mir Tanvir alias Khasru of the same village. The court also fined him TK 20,000.
According to the prosecution, Shamsul Haq Mir Malat, 70, a retired official of Bangladesh Inland and Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) and his wife Nargis Nahar Begum Shelly, 60 were hacked to death by the convicts over land dispute in their house in Char Tepakhola Munshidangi village on the outskirts of the town on 26 October 2013.
Kamrul Hasan Masud, son of the victims, filed a case with Faridpur Kotwali Police Station. Police arrested the three accused on 17 November 2013.
After examining the records and 21 witnesses, Dhaka Speedy Trial Tribunal-4 Judge ABM Nizamul Haq handed down the verdict.
