Sylhet: A case was filed accusing four unidentified persons for killing blogger and Gonojagoron Moncho activist Ananta Das Bijoy.

Riteshwar Das, elder brother of Ananta Bijoy, filed the case with the Airport police at about 5:00am on Wednesday.

However, a half-day hartal was observed by Sylhet Ganajagaran Mancha protesting the killing of Bijoy, is progressing in the city on Wednesday.

Vehicular movement on the town roads was almost normal in the morning.

However, no long-route buses left the district town.

A large number of policemen remained deployed in the city to fend off any trouble.

Blogger Ananta Bijoy Das was hacked to death by a group of assailants in broad daylight at Subid Bazar Bankalapara in Sylhet on Tuesday morning.

The Airport police said a gang of miscreants attacked Ananta Bijoy Das at about 9:00 am.

They stabbed Ananta with sharp weapons and fled the scene, leaving him seriously injured.

Later, he was taken to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

Ananta Bijoy was also a writer in the blog, Muktomona, Free Thinker, founded by blogger Avijit Roy – who had been murdered two and half months ago after he came home from the USA.
