Munshiganj: Ferry services on Shimulia-Kawrakandi route in the River Padma resumed on Friday morning after nine hours of disruption caused by dense fog.

The ferry service had been kept suspended on the Shimulia-Kawrakandi route from 10:00 pm Thursday night to 7:30am on Friday due to poor visibility caused by dense fog, said Jashim Uddin, manager of Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) at Shimulia.

Eight ferries with a large number of vehicles and passengers on board got stuck in the middle of the Padma near Hajra channel.
