Lakshmipur: A suspected robber was beaten to death by at Charbix in Raipur upazila of Lakshmipur early on Friday.

The deceased is Ruhul Amin, resident of Charbongshi village in the upazila.

Quoting local people, police said a gang of around 8 robbers swooped on the house of one Sharif Hossain breaking open the door in the early hours and looted valuables from the house.

They beat house owner Sharif and stabbed him indiscriminately, leaving him critically injured.

Sensing the presence of the bandits, locals chased them while fleeing and managed to catch Ruhul while others managed to flee.

Later, the angry mob gave him a good thrashing, leaving him dead on the spot.

On information, police recovered the body and sent it to Sadar Hospital morgue.

Ruhul was wanted in four cases, said Lokman Hossain, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station.
