Jamaat-e-Islami student wing Chhatra Shibir called a 48-hour hartal in Rajshahi division from Sunday protesting at what they said the killing of a leader of its Rajshahi University unit by police on Friday.

Rajshahi unit Shibir leaders took the decision after an emergency meeting on Friday, said a press release.

Rajshahi University unit president of Shibir Asharaful Alam Imon, its Rajshahi city unit president Anwarul Islam and Bogra city unit president Solhel, among others, were present at the meeting.

The hartal will commence at 6:00am on Sunday till 6:00am on Tuesday.

Shibir RU unit information and research affairs secretary Shahbuddin was killed and two other leaders were injured in a ‘shootout’ with police at Katakhali in the city on early Friday.
