AL leader remanded over attack on Nasirnagar Hindus
A Brahmanbaria court on Sunday placed an Awami League leader on a one-day remand over attacks on Nasirnagar Hindu community.
Senior judicial magistrate of the Brahmanbaria court Soraf Uddin passed the order after police produced Abdul Ahad, former joint secretary of upazila AL and former chairman of Sadar union, before the court seeking a five-day remand, reports UNB.
Earlier, police arrested Ahad from his residence in Ghoshpara area of Nasirnagar upazila headquarter on December 27.
On October 30, some unruly people demolished 15 Hindu temples and vandalised over 100 houses in the upazila following a Facebook post that allegedly hurt the religious sentiment of the Muslim community.
Later, two cases were filed against 2,400 unidentified people in this connection.
