Sheikh Hasina pays tribute to slain MP Liton
Dhaka: The namaz-e-janaza of ruling Awami League lawmaker Manjurul Islam Liton was held at the South Plaza of Parliament on Monday morning.
Ministers, Prime Minister's Advisers, Deputy Speaker Fazlu Rabbi Mia, Prime Minister's Special Envoy and Jatiya Party Chief HM Ershad, Whips of the Jatiya Sangsad, MPs attended the janaza.
Besides, leaders of different political parties, family members and relatives of Manjurul Islam Liton as well as officials and employees of the parliament joined the janaza.
After the janaza, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina paid tributes to slain Manjurul Islam Liton by placing wreaths on his coffin that was draped with the national flag.
The Prime Minister stood in solemn silence there for some time as a mark of respect to the late MP.
Hasina along with her party's senior leaders also placed another wreath on behalf of the party.
On behalf of the President, his military secretary Major General Sarwar Hossain placed a wreath on his coffin to pay homage to him.
Besides, Speaker of the Jatiya Sangsad Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury also placed a wreath on the coffin and paid her respect to slain Manjurul Islam.
A munajat was offered on the occasion, seeking the eternal peace of the departed soul.
Liton was shot at point blank range by some miscreants at his village ho me at Masterpara of Sundarbans Upazila on Saturday evening. He was admitted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital, where attending doctors declared him dead.
