President’s talks with Awami League over EC Wednesday

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid will hold talks with Awami League on Wednesday over the reconstitution of the new Election Commission (EC).
AL President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will lead the party's 19-member delegation at the meeting to be held at the Darbar Hall of Bangabhaban at 4:00pm on Wednesday, President's press secretary Joynal Abedin told UNB on Tuesday.
The other members of the delegation are general secretary Obaidul Quader, advisory council members Amir Hossain Amu, Tofail Ahmed, Suranjit Sengupta, AMA Muhith, HT Imam, Yusuf Hossain Humayun, Mohammad Zamir, presidium members Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim, Mohammad Nasim, Matia Chowdhury, Sahara Khatun and Syed Ashraful Islam, joint general secretaries Dr Dipu Moni and Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Legal Affairs secretary Abdul Matin Khasru, Publicity and Publication secretary Dr Hasan Mahmud and Law Minister Anisul Huq, according to a source at the ruling party.
President Abdul Hamid initiated formal talks with political parties over the formation of the new EC with BNP on December 18 last year and so far held meetings with 22 political parties.
Hamid took the dialogue initiative as the tenure of the current Kazi Rakibuddin Ahmad-led EC expires in February next.
