Kushtia AL man chopped to death

A political activist who recently joined Awami League quitting Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, an associated wing of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was chopped to death by miscreants at Ambaria in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia on Wednesday.

The deceased is Lutfar Rahman Sabu. Former organising secretary of the upazila unit of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, Sabu joined the ruling party recently, reports UNB.

Quoting witnesses, Mirpur Police Station officer-in-charge Qazi Jalal Uddin said Sabu came under attack by a group of miscreants in front of Ambaria graveyard at about 1:30pm while returning home from Halsa Bazar.

The attackers hacked him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.

Police recovered the body and sent it to Kushtia General Hospital morgue for autopsy.

Meanwhile, Sabu’s supporters and local AL activists set fire to the house of Ambaria union council chairman Moshiur Rahman Milon who his loyal to Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JSD) after vandalizing its furniture.

They claimed that Milon’s followers killed Sabu, also a BNP-supported chairman candidate in the last Union Council polls.
