A college teacher was found dead at his residence at Sher-e-Bangla Road in Khulna city on Sunday noon.  

The deceased is Chitta Ranjan Bain, believed to be 45. He was an assistant professor of English Department of Shaheed Abul Kshem College in Batiaghata upazila, reports UNB.

Colleagues of Chitta Ranjan called him several times over phone, as he did not go to the college in the morning, said Aminul Islam Shwapan, principle of the college.

As they did not find any response from Chitta Ranjan despite repeated phone calls, they went to his residence at about 12 noon, said Khulan Police Station Officer-in-charge (OC) Shafiqul Islam.

On information, police went to the spot, entered the room breaking the door, and found the teacher’s body lying on the floor, the OC added.

Police also found a window of the room broken. They are suspecting that someone entered the room in the night and strangled the teacher to death, the OC added.
