Showcase Bangladesh’s potential abroad, President to expats

Dhaka: President Abdul Hamid on Sunday called upon Bangladeshi migrants to showcase the country’s potential abroad.
He came up with the call when mayor of the London Borough of Brent Councillor Parvez Ahmed met him at Bangabhaban.
During the meeting, the visiting mayor apprised the President of the activities of his council.
President’s Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting.
Parvez Ahmed said Bangladesh should take immediate steps to build skilled manpower considering its employment prospects in European countries.
About the organisational structure of Bangladesh missions abroad, he said Bangladesh missions are unable to provide desired services to migrants for lack of manpower as their number is on the rise.
The mayor underscored the need for appointing information officers to Bangladesh missions abroad to project the country’s development and progress, and law officers to the ones in the countries where the number of Bangladeshi migrants is high.
Congratulating Parvez Ahmed on his election to the post of Mayor of the London Borough of Brent, President Hamid said Bangladeshi migrants are playing an important role as goodwill envoys to highlight the country’s image abroad.
Centre for NRB chairperson MS Shekil Chowdhury and secretaries concerned to the President were present.
