A Thakurgaon court on Wednesday sentenced a young man to death for killing his father in 2010.

The court also fined the convict, Mozaharul Islam, 30, of Mahatpara village in Baliadangi upazila, Tk 10,000.

According to the prosecution, Mozahar had an altercation with his father Idris Ali on December 13, 2010 over planting paddy and hit him with a sharp weapon, leaving him dead.

Later, Idris Ali’s elder son Ansarul Islam filed a murder case with Baliadangi Police Station, and police submitted a chargehsheet against Mozahar on February 6, 2011.

After examining the records and witnesses, Additional Session Judge Mohammad Haider Ali handed down the verdict in presence of the convict.
