Devotee dies at ijtema ground
Dhaka: A devotee died of old age ailments at the Biswa Ijtema ground in Tongi area of Gazipur on the outskirts of Dhaka on early Saturday.
The deceased is Joynal Abedin, believed to be 70, a resident of Kishoreganj district, reports UNB.
Sources said Joynal died in the dead of night.
The second phase of the three-day ijtema, the second largest congregation of the Muslims after the hajj, began on the bank of the Turag River on Friday.
Earlier, total nine devotees including a foreign citizen died at the Ijtema venue during the three-day first phase of the 50th Biswa Ijtema began on Friday, 6 January, reports BSS.
The first phase of the ijtema ended with Akheri Munajat (concluding prayers) on Sunday, 8 January.
