At least three were killed in petrol bomb attack on a truck at Mahilara area of Gaurnadi in Barisal on Saturday morning.

The arson attack took place on the Dhaka-Barisal Highway at about 5:00am on Saturday.

Though the deceased could not be traced yet, two of them are assumed to be assistants of truck which were going to Barisal loaded with poultry feeds.

Gaurnadi Police officer-in-charge Sazzad Hossain said the truck skidded off into the roadside tree after miscreants had hurled petrol bomb on it.

Three of them burnt alive on the spot, he said adding ‘we are trying to recover the bodies.’

Barisal police super Ehsan Ullah said blockade supporters carried out the petrol bomb attack.

The incident took place on the 33rd day of the nonstop countrywide transport blockade enforced by BNP-led 20-Party Alliance.

BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia called the transport blockade from January 6 last as the government did not allow her party and its allies to hold protest rallies in the capital on January 5.
