6 hurt in a clash over road construction in Daulatpur

Kushtia: At least six people received bullet injuries during a clash between two groups over construction of a road at Piarpur union of Doulatpur upazila in Kushtia on Sunday evening.
The Daulatpur police held a man, named Abdus Salam, carrying bullets and shot gun, for his connection with the incident.
The Daulatpur police Officer-in-charge Ahmed Kabir said the clash began following an argument between a local market committee and people of the village of Gachtala over constructing a road at Kamalpur in Piarpur union.
At one stage, the two groups also opened fire to each, which left six people injured.
The injured are Shariful Islam of Kamalpur village, Abdul Hamid, Mamun, Saddam Hossain, Hassan, and Sujan. Abdul Hamid was taken to Kushtia General Hospital, while the others were admitted to different hospitals of the area.
Police superintendent of the district Prolay Chisim said Abdus Salam was arrested in a raid at the village of Gachtala.
Additional police members were also deployed in the area to avoid further unwanted situations.
