Thakurgaon: A female university student was allegedly sexually abused while traveling by a night coach on the Dhaka‐ Thakurgaon route on Saturday night.

The victim’s mother lodged a complaint with Sadar police in this connection.

According to the complainant, her daughter was travelling to Dhaka by a night coach of Hanif Paribahan. On the way, the coach supervisor, Masud, and driver, Rois, physically harassed the student.

When the bus reached Gabtoli bus terminal in Dhaka, the two staffs also threatened the girl and tried to pick her up in a CNG‐run auto‐rickshaw.

Meanwhile, the victim managed to inform her relatives about the situation over phone.

The relatives rushed to Gabtoli bus terminal and rescued her.

The Sadar police Officer-in-charge Moshiur Rahman said they have recorded the statement of the victim’s mother.

Necessary steps will be taken in this connection, he added.
