Rajshahi private clinic, diagnostic centre owners on indefinite strike

Rajshahi: Rajshahi Private Clinic and Diagnostic Center Owners’ Association went on an indefinite strike in Rajshahi city on Tuesday afternoon demanding to press home their three-point demand.
Dr Faysal Kabir Chowdhury, vice-president of the Association, said they called the shutdown demanding to stop random mobile court operation and fining of private clinics and diagnostic centres, withdraw additional holding tax and signboard fees.
Recently, several mobile courts fined some private clinics and diagnostic centres with huge amount of money, Dr Faysal alleged.
The Association took the decision to protest the mobile court drives and shut down all clinics and diagnostic centres after 2:00pm, he added.
The mobile courts fined three clinics and diagnostic centres Tk 7.25 lakh for using expired surgical instruments and keeping illegal Indian medicine.
