Jessore: Shipping Minister Shajahan Khan on Friday said the BNP is spreading confusion over formation of Election Commission (EC) aiming to serve ill political motive.

"BNP's attempt to create confusion for formation of election commission will go in vain as they are talking about the issue without any basis," he told a function organized on the occasion of 50 years founding anniversary of Jessore Polytechnic Institute here.

Shajahan said, "The BNP is doing ill politics to hamper development process in the country. So, we all have to remain alert to foil any conspiracy against state and its people."

There is no scope to talk about formation process of EC as President Abdul Hamid has formed the six-member search committee after holding a series of talks with 31 registered political parties on formation of the next Election Commission

The shipping minister said Bangladesh has made an impressive progress in the past eight years as the present government under dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is working relentlessly for achieving the status of middle-income country by 2021.

He urged the people of the country to extend their support to the government for keeping up the ongoing development trend.

Chairman of Technical Education Board Dr Mostafizur Rahman and Principal of the Polytechnic Institute Siddique Rahman, among others, addressed the function with Freedom fighter Idris Ali in the chair.
