Khaleda Zia to appear before court on Monday
Dhaka: BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia is likely to appear before the court to attend the hearing on Zia Orphanage Trust and Zia Charitable Trust graft cases on Monday.
Contacted, BNP chairperson’s adviser Khandaker Mahbub Hossain said ‘Begum Zia is respectful of the laws. If she gets adequate security, and if no untoward incidents occur before the day, she must appear before the court.’
Khaleda’s councillor Sanaullah Miah said, ‘As the court fixed Monday for the hearing, it is 80 percent possible that Madam (Zia) will appear before the court on the day.’
On 5 May, Judge Abu Ahmed Jamadar of Dhaka Special Judge Court-3 asked BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia to appear before it on Monday in connection with the two graft cases.
The court passed the order upon four separate petitions submitted by Khaleda's lawyer, seeking adjournment of the hearing in the cases.
