Transport strike in Rajshahi division suspended
Bogra: Motor Workers Union on Sunday evening suspended its transport strike across all the districts in the Rajshahi division till Monday afternoon.
The transport workers started the strike on Sunday morning demanding the punishment of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) activists who were involved in an attack on transport workers on 13 May.
However, the union’s Rajshahi division unit president Abdul Latif Mandal on Sunday evening told journalists that they have suspended the strike till Monday evening as the union leaders have been invited to a meeting at Home Ministry to resolve the issue.
‘If the demands of the transport workers are not met in the meeting, we will resume the strike from Monday afternoon,’ he added.
On 13 May, some BCL men allegedly vandalised a bus of Shah Fateh Ali Paribahan and beat its driver and helper near Mohakhali Amtoli traffic police box in the capital following an altercation with a passenger.
