BNP accuses govt of making Bangladesh a ‘hell’
Dhaka: Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir on Sunday alleged that the government has turned the entire country into a ‘hell with its misrule’.
“Ruling party men are indulging in infighting regularly over the share of plundered money. There’s no accountability, security, and guarantee of normal death in the country due to their misdeeds…There’s no peace in public mind,” he said.
Speaking at a protest rally, he urged people of all walks of life to get united to ‘restore’ peace in society and people’s all democratic rights by defeating evil forces.
Dhaka city unit BNP arranged the programme at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh protesting the issuance of a warrant for the arrest of BNP Senior Vice-chairman Tarique Rahman in the Zia Orphanage Trust graft case.
Fakhrul said the government is misleading people by giving them false information about the country’s development. “The country’s economy is being ruined through unabated looting.”
He also alleged that the ruling party men are looting public money from the big development projects like flyovers and roads.
The BNP leader said remittance inflow and RMG export are declining while there is no new forging investment in the country. “About 40 lakh youths are now unemployed.”
He claimed that newspapers and TV channels are not presenting true information about the ruling party’s misdeeds and corruption in fear of reprisal.
Earlier at a human chain programme, BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan alleged that instead of serving people, the ruling party men are now considering themselves as emperor of the country.
“We’re observing that the armed ruling party men are getting desperate. They’re even now gunning down journalists. Their leaders celebrate marriage ceremony firing gunshots. They also show their lord-like attitude by walking over students,” he said.
Swadhinata Forum arranged the programme protesting ‘harassment’ of BNP chairperson asking her to appear before court again and again and the arrest warrant against Tarique.
